Understand The Existing Machine Before Replacing Devices
Start by documenting what the machine does and how it operates. Record recurring faults, manual interventions, spare part availability and production constraints. This makes retained functions and improvement priorities visible.
Build A Useful Preparation File
- Makes and models of PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors and network devices
- Current electrical drawings and cabinet photographs
- Available project files, parameter backups and license information
- Production recipes and critical settings
- Available downtime, trial production opportunities and responsible teams
Agree How Success Will Be Assessed
Restarting the machine should not be the only acceptance criterion. Define expected behavior for product changeovers, alarms, communications, screens and maintenance access. Plan the test sequence and the response to nonconformities.
Preparation can reveal software dependencies or missing backups before work starts. These findings help make the project plan more realistic. Bringing this information to an initial ISP Automation discussion supports a more focused assessment.
